Mumbai Indians might have lost the season opener last night, however, skipper Rohit Sharma has won millions of hearts as he batted for a noble cause in the season opener against RCB. Ahead of the tournament, Rohit had announced that this IPL he will be playing for causes he supports and staying true to his style, the batting superstar wore shoes highlighting endangered rhino species.

Rohit sported a unique design of his IPL cricket shoes, which highlighted the endangered species on them, literally calling out ‘Save The Rhino’ in order to educate more people with his vision to save this ‘vulnerable’ species from extinction.

On Saturday, Rohit took to his Twitter and penned down a heartfelt note, where he expressed his emotions behind the same. He revealed that when he walked out to bat it was more than a game. He wrote:

“Yesterday when I walked on to the field it was more than just a game for me. Playing cricket is my dream and helping make this world a better place is a cause we all need to work towards.”

He added:

“It was special for me to take a cause so close to my heart with me on the field while I do what I love. Every step matters”
