Former England captain Kevin Pietersen opened up about the war of words that took place between Yuvraj Singh and him during England’s tour of India in 2008.

For the unversed, in 2008 during England’s tour of India, Kevin Pietersen had labeled Yuvraj Singh a ‘pie-chucker’. However, the war of words didn’t end there but it kept growing. Next year during the T20 World Cup in England, Yuvraj Singh gave it back to Kevin Pietersen as he trolled him by saying that he will deliver pies to him because he always gets him out.

Cut to 2022, seems like the banter is still going on as both the former cricketers never really miss any opportunity to take a dig at each other on this now famous ‘pic chucker’ term.

Recently, at the Legends’ League Cricket, Kevin Pietersen finally revealed the real reason behind calling Yuvi names. He said:

“Playing against Yuvraj Singh was always an issue. Left-arm spin was always an issue. But when Yuvraj came on I thought this is the opportunity to score. Then he started knocking me over. Then I started to get a bit frustrated but my favorite shot against Yuvraj was the forward defensive block. That defensive shot, you can get past this pie-chucker”

He added:

“I called Yuvraj a pie-chucker purely based on the fact that he knocked me over a couple of times and I didn’t want to tell the rest of the world that he was any good. It was that rubbish provider you play with. You think I am bigger than the other player and try and force yourself on the opposition and he comes back at you”,

Though, both the cricketers keep teasing each other on this, but they have e turned into ‘very good friends’ over the years.
