Kevin Pietersen Wrote A Heartfelt Message For PM Narendra Modi: On Wednesday, the Assam government set a record of sorts on the occasion of World Rhino Day by destroying the world’s largest stockpile of rhino horns at a public function. Nearly 2,479 rhino horns were burnt by the Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who was the chief guest at the function held at Bokakhat stadium in Golaghat district.

Speaking at the event, the Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that burning the rhino horns has made it clear that Assam would never trade them. He also claimed that the use of rhino horns for medicinal purposes is a myth.

Today is a historic day for Assam & India. We have taken an extraordinary step of burning stockpile of 2479 horns of single-horned Rhinos, first-of-its-kind globally in volume terms, pursuing vision of Hon PM Sri @narendramodi of putting an end to poaching in Assam 1/2@PMOIndia pic.twitter.com/4SuN0XuCWB
