Former Kolkata Knight Riders captain Gautam Gambhir might make a comeback for the franchise, according to some media reports.
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are likely to make a major addition to their coaching staff as they are in talks with Justin Langer. As per a report by Cricbuzz, discussions are underway between Justin and LSG. If appointed, Langer will replace Andy Flower, whose 2-year contract with the franchise ended after the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League.
If everything goes well between the two parties, Langer will make his coaching debut in the Indian Premier League next year. He has never been associated with IPL in any way. He joined Rajasthan Royals in the inaugural season of the IPL (2008) but he pulled out before the start of the season.
Will Gautam Gambhir Make A Comeback In KKR?

Amidst the news of Langer joining the LSG franchise, social media is abuzz with Gambhir’s “homecoming”. Yes, the unconfirmed news has left KKR fans excited about Gambhir making his comeback into the franchise.
KKR brought Gautam Gambhir on board in 2011 for a then-record price of ₹11 crore, making him the most expensive player in the 2010 IPL auction and the movie immediately paid off as Gambhir led the team to their maiden IPL Title win in 2012.
Gambhir and KKR once again repeated the feat two years later in 2014 when they clinched the IPL title for the second time. He spent seven seasons with KKR before going back to Delhi Capitals in to play his final season in 2018.
Gambhir then announced his retirement from all formats of the game in 2021 to focus on his political career with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Delhi. Gambhir took up the mentor’s role at Lucknow Super Giants in 2021 and is still a staff member.
KKR’s struggles returned after Gambhir left as they failed to even reach the playoff stages in 2019, 2020, 2022, and 2023 while in 2021 they ended up as the runner-ups in the season.
