KL Rahul May Miss Series Against Sri Lanka To Get Married With Athiya Shetty

Team India vice-captain KL Rahul was rested for the just-concluded 20I and ODI series against New Zealand to take some personal time after the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. Now as per some reports, KL Rahul may skip the T20I and ODI series against Sri Lanka at home as well to get married to his Bollywood star girlfriend Athiya Shetty. 

Yes, you read that right. Several media reports stated that Rahul is expected to get married to Bollywood actor  Suneil Shetty’s daughter Athiya in the first week of January 2023.

Notably, the BCCI is yet to announce the fixtures for the upcoming Sri Lanka series at home but the series is likely to take place in the first week of January. The couple has been dating since 2018 and is one of the most loved couples. The couple has often made it to the headlines for leaving mushy comments under each other’s posts.

Recently, Suneil Shetty confirmed the rumor about KL Rahul’s wedding with his daughter Athiya Shetty. 

“Hopefully soon, we will know when and where will the wedding will happen. I guess at the right time, everyone will know details about the wedding,” Suneil Shetty told Hindustan Times.

Earlier, a BCCI official told the InsideSport website that he had asked for some personal time off. Though the personal work has not been revealed, it has been assumed that it is for his marriage with Athiya. The BCCI official stated:  “KL has asked for some personal time off. That is why he is not playing in New Zealand. He does not have any injury concerns or a break. He has some family commitments. I am not aware if he is getting married or engaged but yes, he has some personal commitment is what I can tell you,”

Reports are coming in that the wedding has been finalized for the first week of January.

On Thursday, KL Rahul will leave for Dhaka, Bangladesh along with Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and other teammates for the upcoming ODI and Test series against Bangladesh. Immediately after the Test series against Bangladesh, Team India will return home for the Sri Lanka series.
