The skipper of the Punjab-based franchise believes that a little change will bring a change in fortune for the team. KL Rahul said that the team is not just about the 11 players but it depicts the whole ‘family’.

Talking to Star Sports ahead of the IPL 2021 auction, KL Rahul showed that the renaming of the team will help change the fortune of the team. He said:

“I liked the name Kings XI but the team is a lot more than just 11 players. We are supposed to be like a family, supposed to feel like a family, supposed to feel like a whole unit. I am quite confident that the change in name will bring us good fortune this year,”

Meanwhile, the star player of Punjab Kings, Chris Gayle – the Universe Boss has also backed the opinion of KL Rahul and said that he loved what the skipper said about renaming the name of the franchise. He said:

“Absolutely, I love it. Sometimes, it’s good to have a change as well. I like what KL said. It’s not about the 11 players. It’s going to get everyone more involved. Punjab Kings is the way to go,”

KL Rahul and Chris Gayle are both likely to play instrumental roles for Punjab Kings in the upcoming edition of the IPL. The Punjab-based franchise finished the previous season in sixth place.

Ahead of the IPL 2021, the franchise has set itself up for a complete revamp. Eight players have been released by the franchise and the team will head into Thursday’s auction with the heftiest purse – ₹53.2 crores.
