KL Rahul silenced his critics in a stunning way last night during the 2nd ODI match between India and England. The cricketer played a terrific knock as he brought up his ton in 108 deliveries and became the first player to score a century in the ongoing series.

KL Rahul, who was struggling for most of the T20I series against England, bounced back into the form with a bang in the ongoing ODI series. He scored 62* off 43 deliveries in an innings, which was laced with 4 sixes and 4 fours in the opening match.

In the 2nd ODI, KL showed his class by smashing a century. However, what stole all the attention was his unique ‘monk-like celebration where he was seen literally ‘silencing his critics’ by shutting his ears after scoring a ton.

Later, after the match, KL talked about his unique celebration and revealed the reason behind shutting his ears. Responding to which he revealed:

“It (the celebration) is just to shut out the noise, not to disrespect anyone. There are people out there who try to pull you down, at times you need to neglect them. So that’s just a message to shut out that noise. When me and Virat were batting, we needed anything around 300, so happy with this total,”

KL Rahul was eventually dismissed for 108 runs off 114 runs, his stunning knock was laced by 2 sixes and 7 boundaries. Talking about the innings, KL said that scoring runs give you confidence. He also revealed how he was left disappointed after his failure in the T20I series. He said:

“It was a hot day and it was important for us to get a partnership. Really happy with what we have achieved after 50 overs. Scoring runs makes you confident, and that’s what you want to do. I was disappointed after the T20 series, but that’s how the game goes. Few quality shots eased my nerves. Really happy I was able to build those partnerships with Virat and Rishabh,”
