The recently concluded IPL 2021 auctions turned out to be an intriguing affair. While some franchises made an exorbitant amount of money, shattering all the previous records, on the other hand, others went for unbelievable bargain prices. While the likes of Chris Morris, Kyle Jamieson, and Glenn Maxwell turned out to be the most expensive buys in the auction.

Kyle Jamieson became the fourth highest buys in the history of the Indian Premier League. The Kiwi player was picked by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) during the IPL 2021 auction for a whopping amount of INR 15 crore.

The 26-year-old was overwhelmed with the intense bidding that took place at the auction tables for him. He recently shared the conversation he had with the former New Zealand bowler Shane Bond regarding the same.

Jamieson revealed that he was waiting anxiously for his turn to arrive while watching the auctions live. As soon as he was picked by the Bangalore-based franchise, he received a message from Shane Bond, regarding his feelings.

However, Kyle revealed that at that point in time he wasn’t very sure about his emotions as he didn’t know exactly how much the amount INR 15 crore is in New Zealand’s dollars. He revealed:

“I woke up around midnight and decided to check the phone. Rather than trying to avoid the situation, (I thought) I’ll sit back and enjoy it. It was certainly a weird hour and a half waiting for my name to be called up. I had a message from Shane Bond as it was going and he said, ‘How good is this’. I didn’t actually know what the amount of money was, how that translated to New Zealand dollars. It was quite cool to share that moment with him and ride that two or three minutes with him,”

Furthermore, Jamieson reckoned that it is a very special tournament, and being able to rub shoulders with the likes of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers will make the entire experience even more special.

“I think it’s such a special tournament, obviously the biggest franchise tournament around. There’s so many cool experiences to be had over there and learning opportunities. That’s the thing that excites me the most… being able to rub shoulders with these guys. It’s such a unique situation for us as cricketers and to be able to do that is something pretty special,”
