India’s legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar is a big cricket fan. She follows the game regularly and is a big fan of Sachin Tendulkar. She was also present at Sachin Tendulkars’ ‘100th hundred’ party. Tendulkar has time and again said that he respects Lata Mangeshkar like his mother and has always been a big fan of her singing.

After India’s third win in the ongoing 5-match series between India and England, the legendary singer ‘Bharat Ratna’ Lata Mangeshkar took to twitter to congratulate Team India, and specially Virat Kohli, who scored a match-winning double hundred in the first innings of the fourth match at Wankhede stadium in Mumbai.

Lata Mangeshkar tweeted this after Virat Kohli’s marathon innings which led India to thumping win in the fourth Test at Wankhede stadium:

“Khas taur se Virat Kohli Kohli ko badhaai deti hun jinhone 235 run banaaye (special congratulations to Virat Kohli who scored 235 runs),” Lata Mangeshkar tweeted with a video of his song “Aakash ke us par phi’.

Virat Kohli has been absolutely outstanding for India in the year 2016. It would fair to say that his stature in Indian cricket and international cricket, grew heaps and bounce in 2016 and he is already in the list of modern-day greats of the game. In the fourth Test, Kohli batted out of his skin and played one of the best innings we have ever seen on India soil. After a middle-order collapse, Kohli batted with bowlers and scored third double-hundred of his Test career. Interestingly, before 2016, Virat Kohli had no double-hundreds in Test cricket and with one more Test match to go in calendar year 2016, he has 3 double-hundreds to his name.
