The latest test rankings have been announced by the ICC and Steve Smith still stands tall at the first place with a rating of 947 points. Smith has been sensational in the Ashes that concluded recently and hence he continues to be in the top spot.
VIRAT KOHLI RECLAIMS THE SECOND SPOT
Virat Kohli, who had slipped to the third position has reclaimed the second spot after a brilliant knock of 153 at The Centurion. It was only yesterday that he was announced as the ICC Cricketer of The Year and the ICC ODI Cricketer Of The Year for his great run of form in 2017.
Having amassed a rating of 900, the India skipper comes back to the second spot.
VIRAT BECOMES THE SECOND INDIA TO REACH RATINGS OF 900
The Indian captain became only the second Indian to reach ratings of 900 in the test career. The first one to do so was Sunil Gavaskar who reached ratings of 916 points in 1979 after a splendid knock of 221 at the Oval. Virat Kohli became the 31st player to reach the elite club of 900 points.
On the third spot is England’s captain Joe Root while the fourth spot has been taken by Kane Williamson, the New Zealand captain followed by David Warner at the fifth spot.
The poor show in South Africa has made Pujara slip down in the rankings as the Indian batsman now falls to the 6th spot in the ICC Test Rankings for batsmen.
