Latest ICC Test Rankings: Steve Smith retains his top spot, Kohli down to number 3

India’s captain Virat Kohli has dropped to number 3 spot in the latest ICC Test rankings for batsmen. Kohli has struggled in the first two Tests of the ongoing 4-match series against Australia and this has resulted in him losing his number 2 spot 2 England’s newly appointed Test captain Joe Root.

Australia’s skipper Steve Smith has retained his number 1 spot in the latest ICC Test ranking. Smith’s 77-Test reign at the top of the batsmen’s rankings help him go past his former captain Ricky Ponting, who did it for 76 Test.

Another Indian batsmen Cheteshwar Pujara has also claimed up a few places in the latest rankings. Pujara batted brilliantly on a difficult pitch at the Chinnaswamy stadium in Bangalore in the second Test.
