The Indian Premier League (IPL) is one of the most loved and successful tournaments around the world. Not just it gives a perfect opportunity to young talents to showcase their talent in front of the world, but it also makes cricketers rich in a relatively shortish time.

However, it is not a piece of cake to match the level of the Indian Premier League as a player requires tremendous skill and talent. However, there are many who have gone on to achieve milestones in the tournament. Here, in this article, we will discuss the richest players of the Indian Premier League, who have surpassed the amount 100 crores.

1. Mahendra Singh Dhoni:




Be it playing for the Indian cricket team or for his IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings, the legendary cricketer MS Dhoni has achieved tremendous success in the world of cricket. MS Dhoni has led Chennai Super Kings to three IPL titles and two Champions Leagues titles and two Champions League titles. As per an Inside Sports Money Ball report, legendary Indian cricketer MS Dhoni became the highest-paid player in the IPL history. So far, he has earned over RS. 137 crores.

MS Dhoni started with a salary of INR 6 crores in IPL 2008 and continued to earn the same amount in the 2009 and 2010 editions of the IPL as well. He had an increase in salary from IPL 2011 to 2013, where he earned INR 8.2 crore every year.

In 2014, the BCCI raised the first-choice retention fees to INR 12.5 crores. Hence, he earned INR 12.5 crore in IPL 2014 and 2015. In 2016 and IPL 2017, Dhoni played for the Rising Pune Supergiant, where he earned the same amount, i.e, INR 12.5 crore.

Later ahead of the IPL 2018, the BCCI announced to increase the first-choice retention price to Rs. 15 crores. Dhoni made a comeback with Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2018. He has earned a total of INR 45 crore in the past three seasons.

2. Rohit Sharma:

The ‘Hitman’ Sharma of the cricket world, is at the second spot on the list. He is one of the most successful skippers in the IPL history, having won his team to the title 5 times. So far, he has earned over Rs 131 crore.

He earned INR 3 crores every year during his time at Deccan Chargers from the period 2008 to 2010. From 2011 to 2013, Rohit earned INR 9.2 crore every year.

Being the captain, Rohit became the first-choice retention player in IPL 2014 and hence he earned INR 12.5 crore. Following that, he has been matching Dhoni’s amount every year since then and has earned a total of INR 131 crores.

3. Virat Kohli:

Virat Kohli, the current Indian, and Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper became the third player to join the 100 crore club of the Indian Premier League. Though, Virat is hailed as the greatest batsman in the modern era however his captaincy has not helped his team to get their hands on the prestigious IPL trophy even for once. However, this hasn’t stopped him from becoming one of the most valuable cricketers in the Indian Premier League.

So far, Virat has earned over INR 126 crores. The present Indian skipper was an uncapped player back in 2008 when he was picked by Royal Challengers Bangalore at INR 12 lakhs only. Virat earned the same amount in the first three seasons of the Indian Premier League.

In IPL 2011, Virat was the only player to be retained by RCB and he earned INR 8.2 crore from IPL 2011 to 2013 every year. In 2014, he joined the bracket of first-choice retention player and earned INR 12.5 crore for the next four seasons.

In IPL 2018, Virat Kohli broke all the records and earned a whopping INR 17 crores, which was 2 crores more than the highest retention price. Since then, he has earned INR 51 crore in the last past three seasons.

4. Suresh Raina:

The star batsman of Chennai Super Kings and the former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina is the latest one to join the 100 crore club of the Indian Premier League. He is the fourth Indian to become a part of this club. He has been a formidable unit of the Chennai Super Kings’ batting line-up in the IPL. He is one of the leading run-getters of the franchise and has so far earned INR 97 crore.

Raina abruptly pulled out of the IPL 2020 stating personal reasons, following which his contract with CSK came to an end. However, the three times IPL winners decided to stick with their star player.

As per a report by Insidesporte Moneyball, Suresh Raina is expected to receive at least INR 11 crore, which was also his last drawn salary with the franchise. Also, though he had pulled out of the tournament but he still received a 10% of his contract, i.e, INR 1.1 crore.

5. AB de Villiers:

AB de Villiers, the star player of Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore created history by becoming the only overseas player to join the 100 crore club of the IPL. AB is known for his amazing talent and consistency in the IPL. Recently, he was retained by the Royal Challengers Bangalore, which means he will be earning 11 crores in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League, following which his total earned salary will be INR 102.5 Crores
