Virat Kohli’s fans are celebrating in joy for Virat Kohli has been named as the ICC Cricketer Of The Year, 2017. The ICC Awards 2017 were all about the Indian captain as he also won the award of The ICC ODI Player Of The Year. Not just this but Virat Kohli has also been named as the captain of the ICC ODI Team for men as well as the ICC Test Team for men.

The Start Of ICC Awards

The journey ICC awards started in the year 2004. We are proud to tell you that Rahul Dravid was the first ever Cricketer to have won the ICC Cricketer Of The Year. The same year Rahul Dravid was also conferred with the ICC Test Player Of The Year.

Besides Rahul Dravid and Virat Kohli, there are a few other Indians too who have won the ICC Cricketer Of The Year Award in various years. The ICC Cricketer Of The Year Awardee is honored with the ‘Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy’ and for 2017 this has come, Virat Kohli.

Indians have won the ICC Cricketer Of The Year Award for two successive years as the ace spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin won the ICC Cricketer Of The Year in 2016. Ashwin was also named the ICC Test Player Of The Year 2016.

  2. Sachin Tendulkar: 2010 
  3. Ravichandran Ashwin: 2016

In the ICC Awards announced for the year 2017, 3 Indians have made it to the ICC ODI XI. These include Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, and Rohit Sharma. In the ICC Test XI, top three Indians have featured on the list of ICC Test XI. Virat Kohli, Cheteshwar Pujara, and Ravichandran Ashwin have made it to the ICC Test XI.
