Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) CEO Rahul Johri unveiled Team India’s new jersey at an event in Mumbai. Mobile phones manufacturing company OPPO are now the new sponsors of Indian Cricket Team and the new jersey with their name on it was unveiled in a high profile event at JW Marriott Sahar Hotel in Mumbai.

OPPO signed a five year deal with BCCI in April, after STAR didn’t ask for renewal of their deal. Earlier, STAR was the main sponsor of Indian cricket team and they benefited a lot from this partnership.

OPPO will pay USD 162 million (INR 1,079 crore) for the sponsorship rights in the next five years. Also, as per the reports, the company has to pay INR 4.61 crore for the bilateral fixtures and INR 1.56 crore for a match in the ICC tournaments.

The new jersey is very similar to the old one which was worn by Team India in the ODI series against England earlier this year; with a dark blue shade on the sides along the arms, and a lighter hue on the chest and back.

OPPO won the bid by outbidding their rival company and current sponsors of Indian Premier League, VIVO.  Vivo’S bid $115 million for the five-year period was outbid by OPPO, who offered $162 million for a five-year period starting in April.
