Marnus Labuschagne

Australian star batter Marnus Labuschagne, in a brain-fade moment, gifted his wicket to James Anderson in the ongoing second Ashes 2023 Test match at the iconic Lord’s Stadium.

With this, Marnus continued his below-par showing in the English summer with a soft dismissal on the final session of the second Ashes Test at Lord’s. Not in the best of forms, Labuschagne is yet to score a half-century in his six innings during the English summer and has an average of a mere 26.16 with the highest score of 47 in the first innings of the ongoing Test.

The dismissal took place on the first delivery of the 41st over when Marnus cut a harmless delivery from James Anderson in the air. England batter Harry Brook, who was stationed at the backward point, picked a perfect catch.

Generally, one would expect Marnus to slam a short and wide delivery but it didn’t happen as expected. Coming out to bat at No.3 in the 25th over, Marnus could only last in the middle for 16 overs before getting dismissed for 30 (51) including five fours.

Even Marnus was left in disbelief at the way he got out. Watch the video here:

Meanwhile, Marnus Labuschagne is ranked third in the latest ICC Test rankings. He will look forward to improving his batting performances away from home. He averages above 70 in 22 Tests at home but he has a batting average of less than 40 in 18 matches away from Australia.

Talking about the ongoing Ashes, after winning the first Test at Edgbaston, which turned out to be an absolute thriller, Australia is being deemed as the favorite to win the second Test.

With a lead of 221 runs already and eight wickets in hand, the pressure is firmly on England, with the prospect of falling into a 0-2 hole looming large.
