Mayank Agarwal Opened Up About Losing His Test Spot To ‘Best Friend’ KL Rahul

With the Indian cricket team, all set to resume duties in the second edition of the World Test Championship, Indian batsman Mayank Agarwal will be looking forward to reclaiming his position in India’s Test squad when they will lock horns with New Zealand in the upcoming two-match Test series.

Mayank Agarwal has lost his place in the Test side after he was hit on the head by a Mohammed Siraj bouncer in the nets ahead of the first test match against England. He was replaced by KL Rahul, who has turned out to be the biggest asset for the Indian side. KL Rahul had a great outing as he scored 315 runs in the four games he played in that series to cement his place in the Test squad.

Meanwhile, in an interview with TOI, Mayank was recently asked about whether he was unlucky to miss a Test berth, he said:

“See, I wouldn’t look into it as that. I would look into it and say that’s how it is. You know, that’s how things happen sometimes. You have your ups and downs. And that’s fine. I don’t think of it as bad luck or anything like that. That’s just part of life. Having the sort of thing that happened is just a part of life. I’ve taken it well in my stride and I’ve moved on from it.”

Recently, Mayank had a memorable outing in the Indian Premier League this year as he amassed 441 runs for his team, Punjab Kings. He was the second-highest scorer for the team – after captain K.L. Mayank has been sweating it out to make a solid return to the Test side. Talking about his preparations, he said:

“I’ve always believed in working hard. If I keep doing the right things, work hard, prepare well, then things will fall in place,”

Mayank also expressed his excitement about working with legendary cricketer Rahul Dravid, India’s new head coach. Talking about him, he said:

“Yes I’m really excited to be working with him again. We’ve had a fantastic experience working with him at India A, and now I’m looking forward to the same with the Indian team,”
