MI Schedule For IPL 2020: Mumbai Indians are the defending champions of IPL 2020 and they will face an uphill task of retaining their title in the UAE because they have a dismal record in the Gulf nation.
Back in 2014, when the UAE hosted the first phase of IPL, Mumbai played five matches there and lost all five. They are yet to record a single win there.
Another coincidence is the fact that they were the defending champions heading into IPL 2014 as well. Rohit Sharma will lead the Mumbai-based franchise.
The team has completed its quarantine period in the St. Regis hotel of Abu Dhabi and is all set to play the tournament opener against the runners-up of the previous season Chennai Super Kings.
Chennai Super Kings do not have their star players Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh in the team this year. Both players have opted out of IPL 2020. Hence, Mumbai would start as the favorites to win the season opener, but one should not rule out Thala MS Dhoni.
Talking about Mumbai Indians’ squad for IPL 2020, the defending champions will not have the services of their veteran fast bowler Lasith Malinga, who has opted out of the season again due to personal reasons.
Mumbai roped in James Pattinson as his replacement. Besides, MI has a stellar pace bowling attack, featuring Indian star Jasprit Bumrah, and Kiwi pacers Trent Boult and Mitchell McClenaghan. Also, Nathan Coulter-Nile is the present squad, while Mumbai also has the option of Dhawal Kulkarni.
Shifting our focus to their batting department now, Rohit Sharma is the main batsman of the team, while the likes of Quinton de Kock, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, and Kieron Pollard will back him up in this section.
Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya will be the main all-rounders, who will have the back of Sherfane Rutherford.
Overall, Mumbai has a very solid team, and here’s a look at their full IPL 2020 schedule.
