‘Finally, the five-time champions have managed to win a game in the ongoing 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League, after losing 8 back-to-back games in a row. Mumbai Indians finally have a ‘W’ in front of their name in the IPL 2022 points table as they defeated Rajasthan Royals by 5 wickets at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai on Saturday.
Being asked to bat first, Rajasthan batters had to deal with the inconsistent bounce and slow speed, which made things a little tough for them. Even Jos Buttler, who has been consistently contributing with runs for RR, was seen doing a lot of hard work.
Jos Buttler played another stellar knock as he smashed 67 runs off 52 balls, including 5 fours and 4 sixes. Butter smashed Hrithik Shokeen for four stunning sixes, but the latter finally got the big fish as he dished Buttler out for a 67(52). Sanju Samson’s cameo of 16 runs off seven balls helped the side post a target of 158 runs.

Later, Mumbai Indians managed to get off to a good start and it was Ishan Kishan, who came out with all-guns-blazing and stole the show. He took the attack to the opposition, despite Rohit Sharma losing his wicket early. Though Kishan gave India a good start to Mumbai but he was soon dismissed after scoring 26 runs in no time.
Suryakumar Yadav (51 off 39) and Tilak Varma (35 off 30) steadied the ship for Mumbai as they together added 81 runs for the third wicket, and SKY scored his third fifty of the ongoing season.
Tim David and Kieron Pollard played some good shots to take the side closer to the victory, however, the team faced a major blow when Pollard was dismissed in the last over of the game. Daniel Sams walked out with the bat and scored the winning runs by smashing a stunning shot that went over the fence.
