Mumbai Indians’ young talent Tilak Varma played a knock to remember on Sunday as he saved his team from an embarrassing situation during their season opener match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the ongoing 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Tilak Varma Played A Brilliant Knock

Tilak Varma rescued his side from what was a horrific batting collapse as he played a brilliant knock to help MI post a challenging total of 171 for 7 in 20 overs.

Mumbai Indians made the worst-possible start to their innings as they lost their top-order Ishan Kishan (10), Rohit Sharma (1), and Cameron Green (5) inside the powerplay. T20 sensation Suryakumar Yadav also left his fans heartbroken as he was dismissed for 15.

But Tilak took over the responsibility and made sure that his side breaches the 150-run mark and put up a big total. He walked out to bat when Mumbai was reduced to 20 for in just 5.2 overs and took the game by storm.

Tilak Varma played an unbeaten knock of 84 runs off just 46 balls. His amazing knock was laced with 9 fours and 4 sixes as he lit up the  M Chinnaswamy Stadium with his outstanding shots.

Harsha Bhogle Wrote A Special Tweet For Tilak

Meanwhile, social media has been buzzing with amazing reactions to the brilliant performance by the MI youngster. From cricketers to fans and experts, everyone took to their Twitter to hail Varma’s solid batting show.

Among many, popular Indian commentator, Harsha Bhogle, who is hailed as the voice of Indian cricketers, took to his official Twitter handle and came up with a special tweet. In his Tweet, Harsha made a big prediction about Tilak as he wrote:

“I thought so last year. And I am increasingly convinced now. Tilak Verma is going to be a special player.”
