In the last game for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in IPL 2023, Vivrant Sharma gave a glimpse of his talent and potential as he smacked 69 runs off 47 balls against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede stadium.

The left-hander played attacking cricket right from the outset of his innings to put the pressure on the Mumbai bowlers. Be it pacers or spinners, Vivrant showed adeptness in handling both the types of bowling.

Using his power, intent, feet, and class, Vivrant cracked 9 fours and 2 sixes in his entertaining innings. He was involved in a big opening partnership of 140 runs in 13.5 overs with senior batsman Mayank Agarwal.

Who is Vivrant Sharma?

Born in 1999, 23-year-old Vivrant Sharma hails from Jammu and Kashmir and is an all-rounder who bats left-handed and bowls wristspin.

Vivrant was bought for a price of INR 2.6 crore by SRH in the IPL 2023 auction, after SRH and KKR were involved in a heavy bidding war for the youngster who had a base price of INR 20 lakh.

Vivrant made his domestic debut in 2021 for Jammu & Kashmir. In 11 T20 matches before his fifty vs MI, Vivrant had scored 191 runs at a strike rate of 128 with a couple of half-centuries to his name and had taken 6 wickets with his legspin.

In 7 first-class matches, Vivrant averages 24 with the bat. His List-A numbers are impressive: 14 games, average of almost 40 and strike rate of 87 with 1 century and 3 fifties; with the ball, he’s snapped up 8 List-A scalps.

Vivrant was inspired by his elder brother Vikrant to become a cricketer. Vikrant took over the family’s chemical business after the death of their father Sushant Sharma in 2020. But Vikrant ensured Vivrant followed his dreams of becoming a cricketer.
