Michael Vaughan Rated Virat Kohli As Best Batsman Across Formats Ahead Of Steve Smith

Former England skipper Michael Vaughan has opined his view on the perpetual debate regarding the best batsman across all formats in world cricket. Vaughan feels that Indian skipper Virat Kohli is currently the best batsman, even ahead of Australia’s Steve Smith.

The debate around two of the world’s modern greats has allowed everyone to pitch-in their voices about who is superior among the two batsmen. However, there has been a general view that rates Virat Kohli as the best batsman across formats as someone who will go down as one of the all-time greats in the years to come.

As per the same consensus, people have often regarded Steve Smith as the best Test batsman going around in the world cricket. With his unorthodox technique and an uncanny methodology that allows him to score runs, Smith has created a huge impact for Australia in the red-ball format. He has maintained his average well over 60, while the Indian skipper is always rated second to Smith when it comes to drawing comparisons specifically in the Test format.

Virat, who’s the only batsman in world cricket to average more than 50 in each of the three formats, is head and shoulders above the rest when it comes to international cricket as a whole.

Vaughan, who is one of the most active former cricketers on social media, disagreed to one of his followers, who rated Smith as the best batsman in world cricket. Vaughan wrote: “Disagree… Virat is the best all round.”

The 45-year old has been a huge admirer of Kohli – the batsman. Even in the past, he has talked quite highly of the Indian skipper, who loves to embrace the challenges and perform by defying every possible odd.

The former England cricketer is never shy of putting across his thoughts even if it is about someone’s weakness or the inability to perform at a specific level. A few days ago, Vaughan didn’t hesitate in tweeting about India’s weak middle-order that has forced them to under-achieve in the past two World Cup editions.
