After suffering an early exit from the Asia Cup 2022, the focus of the Indian cricket team will now shift to the e upcoming edition of the ICC World T20. On Monday, the Board of Control for Cricket In India (BCCI) announced a star-studded 15-man squad of Team India for the T20 World Cup 2022.
Former Indian captain Mohammad Azharuddin revealed that he was surprised at the non-selection of two-star performers for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia in October-November this year. The upcoming marque event will mark the return of senior r pacer Jasprit Bumrah and death-bowling specialist Harshal Patel, who were recently rested because of an injury. Ravindra Jadeja was ruled out of the T20 World Cup due to a knee injury.
Reacting to India’s squad announcement for the upcoming event, former Indian captain Azharuddin said that he was ‘surprised’ to see a few names missing from the Indian squad. Azharuddin feels that Mohammad Shami should have been in the main squad. He also opined that Iyer should have been picked at the expense of all-rounder Deepak Hooda. He wrote:
“Surprised at the omission of Shreyas Iyer and Md. Shami from the main squad.”
He added: “Shreyas Iyer instead of Deepak Hooda and Md. Shami in the place of Harshal Patel would be my choice.”

Surprised at the omission of Yusuf Pathan and Stuart Binny from the main squad. They played brilliantly against SL-L.
