His best figures of 7/57 showcased his exceptional bowling skills. Mohammed Shami emerged as the top wicket-taker of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in India.

The Arjuna Award, instituted in 1961, is a prestigious honor in Indian sports. Named after the legendary warrior Arjuna, it recognizes outstanding achievements in various sporting disciplines. Based on the World cup performance, Shami has been nominated for the award.
