India’s unbeaten journey in the 2022 edition of the Asia Cup came to an end on Sunday after they suffered a 5-wickets defeat in the Super-4 clash against arch-rivals Pakistan. While the game turned out to be a last-over thriller, it was small margins that made the difference in the end. For India, a dropped catch by Arshdeep Singh made a huge difference.
Arshdeep Singh dropped a crucial catch that could have completely changed the result of the match. The incident took place during the 18-over of the game, a match-defining moment that tilted the game towards Pakistan’s favor. Arshdeep Singh dropped Asif Ali in the over, who, in turn, smashed a six and a four in the next over to take Pakistan closer to the target.

After India’s defeat in the game against Pakistan, Arshdeep Singh was brutally attacked by shameless trolls on social media, who left no stone unturned while trolling the young cricketer. While Arshdeep Singh is getting trolled left, right and center, however, on the other hand, several cricketers and experts including senior batter and ex-skipper Virat Kohli have come out in support of the young talent.
Among many, India’s sensational bowler Mohammed Shami also came out in support of the young talent. He took to his social media and shared a post to show solidarity with Arshdeep. He wrote:
“Don’t worry Arshdeep. We are with you. Focus on your upcoming game, don’t look and listen to them,”
Check out their Instagram story of Mohammed Shami:

In an interview, Shami stated that trolls are not seen when the team performs well and claimed it is easy to send such messages from fake accounts. He said:
“They only live to troll us, have no other job. When we perform well they don’t say you took a good catch but will troll us?” said Shami. “Agar dam hai toh real accounts se aaye na, fake account se toh koi bhi msg kar sakta hai (If you have the audacity, then comes from real accounts; anyone can message from fake accounts,)”
Shami also went on to accept that he has also experienced trolling in the past but his country has always stood up for him. He said: “I’ve faced this and it doesn’t affect me because my country stands up for me. I’ll only say to Arshdeep , don’t let this hamper you because your talent is immense,”
