Ever since Mohammed Siraj made his debut for the Indian cricket team in Test cricket earlier this year, the cricketer has given many top-notch performances. He had marked his arrival in a blockbuster way by emerging out as India’s highest wicket-taker in his debut series and is now only becoming better and better. The pace sensation has turned out to be exactly the kind of bowler the Indian side needed against strong teams like England and Australia.
In the 2nd Test match as well, Siraj was the pick of the bowlers during their historic win at the Lord’s Cricket Ground against England, which India won by 151 runs to take a lead of 1-0 in the ongoing series. He picked four-wicket hauls in both the innings of the game and returned with the figures of 4/94 and 4/32.
While he missed out on getting his name marked on the Lord’s Honours Board, but, he won everyone’s heart with his stellar performances.
Apart from his bowling skills, Siraj has grabbed everyone’s attention with his bowling performance and celebration style. Siraj’s “finger on the lips” gesture that he makes after every single wicket he picks grabbed a lot of limelight.
Though initially, people interpreted that his actions were targeted towards those he dismissed, he revealed that it was meant for the haters. He had said:
“This story (celebration) is for the haters (critics) because they used to say a lot of things about me like he cannot do this and cannot do that. So, I will only let my ball do the talking and hence this is my new style of celebration,”
His celebration style has now become iconic and has made a special place in every fan’s heart. Meanwhile, Siraj’s fans in Hyderabad took it a notch higher and did something very special for him. They erected a massive cut-out of Siraj in the colored jersey, striking his celebration pose.
