WATCH: Mohammed Siraj Takes A Stunning Diving Catch To Dismiss Heinrich Klaasen

Man of the Match of the first ODI in Lucknow, Heinrich Klaasen, was dismissed early in his innings by India in the second ODI, in Ranchi, after scoring 30 runs. Klaasen was batting at a strike rate of close to 120 and could have once again hurt India, as he did in Lucknow, but for a terrific diving catch from Mohammed Siraj.

Klaasen had been batting at an upped tempo and had already cracked 2 sixes – to Shahbaz and Kuldeep Yadav each – and 2 fours and he wanted to increase South Africa’s run rate in the middle-overs and put Indian spinners in particular under pressure.

However, just two balls after hitting Kuldeep for a six, Klaasen went for another one, but mistimed it and was caught spectacularly by Siraj.

Klaasen gave himself the room to go inside-out as Kuldeep stuck to his line of within the stumps. But Klaasen miscued his shot, hitting the ball with the inside half of his bat and the ball went up in the air toward the long-on region.

Mohammed Siraj ran in hard from long-on but it felt that the ball would land safely near to the 30-yard circle. However, Siraj made a spirited run from long-on and gave a full-stretched-body dive to get his hands under the ball and managed to complete a terrific catch. Siraj in recent matches has dropped a few catches, but with this one he showed that he’s learning quickly from his mistakes in the field.

Meanwhile, South Africa scored 278/7 on a two-paced surface in Ranchi as Reeza Hendricks scored 74 and Aiden Markram scored 79, along with a couple of cameos from Klassen and Miller. For India, it was Mohammed Siraj who was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3/38 in 10 overs.
