Legendary Australian pacer Glen McGrath has opined that Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins are too experienced players to let their game be affected by their heavy price tag in the IPL this year.
The eyeballs will be on Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins this season whenever they take the field. They are two of the marquee pacers in the world and the two most expensive players ever in IPL history. Mitchell Starc was bought by KKR for INR 24.75 crore, and Pat Cummins for INR 20.5 crore by SRH in the auction in December.
Plus, Starc is returning to the IPL for the first time since 2015 and Cummins led Australia to the WTC title and World Cup trophy last year. How they both go in the IPL 2024, which is scheduled ahead of the T20 World Cup, will be interesting to see.
The money that Mitchell Starc And Pat Cummins have received is incredible: Glenn McGrath

Speaking in a media interaction at the MRF Pace Foundation, Aussie great Glenn McGrath said he doesn’t feel the hefty price tag will be much on the minds of the two experienced Aussie bowlers.
“The money that they have received is incredible. But they are both very experienced players and know the game well. They are going to go out and play well as they have done in the past. I don’t think it (price tag) will impact them even one percent,” said McGrath.
Starc had pulled out from IPL 2016 to 2023 either due to injuries or to manage his workload in order to be fresh and fit for international matches. With the T20 World Cup in mind, the left-arm speedster decided to make his comeback to the biggest T20 league in the world.
McGrath says Mitchell Starc is the deadliest in the world when he gets the ball swinging.
“For Starc, he chose not to come to the IPL due to personal reasons. But he comes back and gets a record price. He will be looking forward to it. On his day, if he is moving the ball around, he will be as good as any other fast bowler,” McGrath asserted.
Starc and Cummins, who is the SRH captain, will be pitted against each other in their opening match on March 23 in Kolkata.
