Test cricket is the more challenging form of the game and requires patience and skill in order to succeed. Most of the players can go overs without registering a run and only play with their team’s best interests in mind. The likes of Rahul Dravid have known to play for hours without breaking concentration.

However, with the advent of limited overs cricket and batsmens’ natural aggression being primary factors, there have been situations where they have given bowlers a real hiding. Test cricket rarely gets to see moments such as these and here is a list of those who have scored the most runs in one over:

26 runs in an over:

Hitting 26 runs in an over, that too in Test cricket is like adding insult to injury to bowlers who have toiled all day long. There have been many instances where batsmen have managed to smash 26 runs in one over.

Most recently, this number was reached by Hardik Pandya for India where he smashed Pushpakumara of Sri Lanka for 26 runs so that he could get to his century much faster.

Other players who have done it include the likes of Mitchell Johnson of Australia, who belted Paul Harris, Brendon McCullum who dished out a thrashing to Suranga Lakmal, Brian Lara to Danish Kaneria and Craig McMillan to part-timer Younis Khan. Even the turbanator, Harbhajan Singh received a punishment of 27 runs from the destructive Shahid Afridi.

28 runs:

One player who you would not expect to get smashed to all parts of the park is James Anderson.

However, the star English bowler too, got some tough treatment during the Ashes when George Bailey smacked him for 28 runs that caused Michael Clarke to declare the innings. Brian Lara holds this record too, as he hit South African Robin Peterson once for the same number of runs.
