MS Dhoni’s biopic ‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’ is an intriguing take on MS Dhoni’s life, on and off the field. It starts with Sushant Singh Rajput, who is playing MS Dhoni’s role in the movie, walking down the steps of Wankhede Stadium for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 final and then immediately takes you back to MS Dhoni’s childhood days, and the story starts unfolding from there.

A young boy from Ranchi who just wanted to hit every ball for a six comes through the ranks and becomes the most successful Indian captain ever. It’s a story of boy who preferred football over cricket but went on to become only the second Indian captain to lift the ICC Cricket World Cup trophy, after Kapil Dev.

ACTING

Sushant Singh Rajput has acted brilliantly throughout the movie and the supporting cast, which includes veteran actor Anupam Kher, has also done a very good job.

Cricket and life as a ticket collector

There are no dramatic cricket matches in the movie as Dhoni’s cricketing journey has been shown in a very undramatic and realistic manner. There is also a fairly long chapter on Dhoni’s life as a ticket collector in Indian railways. Fans will enjoy watching this particular part of the movie as it shows how hard it was for MS Dhoni before he became the captain of Indian cricket team and achieved what he has.

Is it really the untold story?

The movie lives up to its name ‘The Untold Story’ as many personal and professional secrets of MS Dhoni’s life have been disclosed in the movie.

If you are looking for controversies, then you will be a bit disappointed. Just like Dhoni’s life on the field, his biopic is also free of any controversy.

The Cricket Lounge gives ‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’ 4.5 stars.

It is an absolute must watch for Indian cricket and MS Dhoni fans. Some might complain it’s long but we believe narrating one of the most glorious journeys in Indian cricket in three hours is a job well done.

The last scene of the movie will make you stand up on your feet and applause the way you did when India won the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2011.
