The COVID-19 pandemic has brought human life to a halt. Many parts around the world are currently under lockdown and because of the same no sporting activities are taking place around the world. At a time like this, many sporting fraternities are using the online platform and are devising new plans of ensuring that athletes continue to train and monitor their fitness.

If sources are believed then the former Indian cricketer MS Dhoni and Ravichandran Ashwin both have facilitated online cricket coaching via their coaching academies. While MS Dhoni’s ‘MS Dhoni Cricket Academy’ is providing live classes on Facebook for its trainees, on the other hand, R Ashwin’s academy is engaging its wards in a range of ways including online sessions with the star player himself.

The online coaching program is attracting a huge interest among the youngsters. Satrajit Lahiri, the former Indian cricketer and chief coach of the Dhoni academy, revealed that each session is being watched keenly. He said:

“We are clocking almost 10000 views across all platforms for every video,”

He further talked about the app and said:

“We have an app called Cricketor where we regularly upload demo drills. The trainees also need to upload their videos so that we can keep a tab on their activities. We give feedback accordingly.”

In these training sessions, the requirement for batsmen is that they have to repeatedly hit the ball against a wall and play with soft hands, that will achieve two objectives — a tight defense and better eye-hand coordination.

As far as bowlers are concerned, the requirements for bowlers is that they have to perform various drill without releasing the ball and monitor their repeatability of bowling actions and loading-up positions.
