The recently concluded One Day International (ODI) series was Virat Kohli’s first ODI series as India’s full-time limited-overs captain. The entire build-up for the series was around Virat Kohli and how he would perform as India’s limited-overs captain. Kohli not only passed the test, but impressed one and all with his aggressive style of captaincy and winning the series 2-1.

It is a trend among captains to take home some sort of memorabilia after a successful series and to keep the trend going, former Indian captain MS Dhoni signed the match ball and gave it to Virat Kohli after the second ODI.

Virat Kohli revealed this in an interview with BCCI.tv. He said that because stumps are too expensive these days and they don’t allow them to take it home, MS Dhoni signed the match ball and gave it to him for winning his first ODI series.

“MS gave me the match ball in the second game. The stumps are too expensive nowadays and they don’t allow us to take it home. He gave me the ball and told me that it was my first series win as captain and it is memorable. It was a special moment for me and I got the ball signed by him as well,” said the captain in an interview with BCCI.tv.
