MS Dhoni Is Getting Badly Trolled For Backing Hardik Pandya Against Selectors’ Wish: India’s hard-hitting all-rounder Hardik Pandya has become one of the grave concerns for the Indian cricket team. He was included in India’s T20 World Cup squad to solve their problems however, he has failed to do so.
He was picked by the selectors for the T20 World Cup squad to bring balance to the team in both batting and bowling departments. However, he has failed to deliver on both ends.
Hardik Pandya hasn’t bowled a single delivery in recent times and he also played as a specialist batsman for Mumbai Indians in the just concluded 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League. As far as his batting performances are concerned, Hardik’s form has seen a considerable dip in the last few months. He has failed to leave a mark with his performances.
In India’s first T20 World Cup match against Pakistan, a lot was expected from Hardik, however, once again he failed to deliver when it mattered the most for the team. Following this, a lot of fingers were pointed at his position in the squad. Infact, the role of Virat Kohli was also questioned as many believed that he was the one who insisted on keeping Hardik in the team.
But as per a report by ‘The Times Of India’, the selection panel-led by Chetan Sharma was against the decision of keeping Hardik Pandya in the playing squad, however, they had to change their mind after the newly-appointed mentor of the team MS Dhoni showed faith in the finishing skills of Hardik Pandya, which eventually led to the selectors to change their minds.
“The truth is that the selectors wanted to send him back to India after he didn’t bowl in the IPL, but MS Dhoni (appointed Team India mentor) vouched for his finishing skills,” a source told TOI.
