MS Dhoni’s Aim Was To Make Only 30 Lakhs: Wasim Jaffer – MS Dhoni is the second-richest cricketer in the world, only behind Sachin Tendulkar. MS Dhoni’s net worth is believed to be INR 1040 crore as of 2023.

He has accumulated this wealth over the past 18 years, playing top-flight cricket, through massive brand endorsement deals and through his various businesses. However, the Ranchi-born cricketer once used to dream of making only INR 30 lakhs, which would allow him and his family to life their lives peacefully in Ranchi.

Wasim Jaffer reveals unknown story of MS Dhoni’s dream of making 30 lakhs:

Former India batsman Wasim Jaffer recalls an unheard story when he met MS Dhoni initially in 2005 when the wicket-keeper was in the first year of his international career with India. Jaffer, who was making a comeback to the Indian team, recalled that MS Dhoni’s early wish was to make around INR 30 lakhs, which would give him and his family members a decent lifestyle and he always wanted to live in Ranchi with his friends and family.

A Twitter user, @dhotedhulwate, posted this story told by Wasim Jaffer about MS Dhoni:

“In 2005, I had made my comeback and Dhoni had come into the Indian team towards the end of 2004. Me, my wife, Dinesh Karthik and his wife, Dhoni, we used to sit on the seats which were behind. Dhoni used to talk to my wife quite a lot. He used to say that his aim is to make ₹30 lakh, so he could spend the rest of his life very peacefully in Ranchi. He didn’t want to leave Ranchi also – ‘kuch bhi jo jaaye, main Ranchi nahi chhodunga’, he used to say.”

“He was new to the team, so he felt that ₹30 lakh would be enough for him to live peacefully. I remember he said to my wife, ‘Bhabhi, mujhe 30 laakh rupay banane hai.'”

“He didn’t change his process with time. He remained calm and even after achieving a lot as captain, I don’t think he has changed his approach or changed the way he talks or the way he looks at things, his perspectives. And that is the greatness of the man, I feel.”

Fans hailed MS Dhoni for sticking to his roots: even with all the fame he has earned, the 42-year-old continues to live in Ranchi.
