For the unversed, Randiv is a former teammate of legendary Indian cricketer MS Dhoni at Chennai Super Kings. He attained some of the glory of the cricketing world by representing his country on the highest stage at the World Cup and the Indian Premier League (IPL).

He represented CSK for two seasons. However, he has found himself in a situation where he decided to take up a job as a bus driver in Australia.

Randiv made his debut for Sri Lanka in the year 2009, replacing spin legend Muttiah Muralitharan in the team. He played for the national side for 7 years till 2016. He was also a part of the 2011 ODI World Cup final, where the Indian cricket team bagged a historic win against Sri Lanka.

Besides this, Suraj is still remembered for his stint against India, where he denied Virender Sehwag an ODI century – not by taking his wicket, but by bowling a no-ball when one run was required for India to win that ODI match.

But after calling it off with cricket, Randiv moved to Australia. He is currently working as a bus driver for a company named Transdev in Melbourne. But Suraj Randiv hasn’t given up on cricket completely and still continues to play for a local club in Melbourne. He is often called by Cricket Australia to bowl at Aussie batters in the nets.

Apart from Suraj, Zimbabwe’s Waddington Mwayenga and Randiv’s countryman Chinthaka Jayasinghe is also working as bus drivers in Australia.

While Chinthaka Jayasinghe has played in five T20Is for Sri Lanka and scored 49 runs, on the other hand, Waddington Mwayenga made his ODI debut against Pakistan in 2002 and went on to play three ODIs and a single Test match for his country. However, today, both cricketers are working as bus drivers.
