A Maldivian legislator expressed disapproval of PM Modi after his Lakshadweep visit, suggesting that New Delhi aims to promote the Union Territory as a substitute tourist spot to the Maldives. Two additional Maldivian ministers joined in with negative comments, sharing photos of PM Modi from Lakshadweep. This sparked extensive controversy, leading to a widespread show of solidarity from the Indian public, including both ordinary citizens and celebrities, who decided to boycott the Maldives. Consequently, the involved ministers faced suspension.

Meanwhile, amid all this, a video involving MS Dhoni speaking about his travel has gone viral.

In the video, Mahendra Singh Dhoni shared that despite his extensive travel experiences, most of them were not for leisure. During his cricket career, he mainly visited nations where cricket events took place, prioritizing the sport over sightseeing. Dhoni admitted that he didn’t explore much during this time as his focus was on playing cricket. However, now that he has more free time, he and his wife plan to travel, with a preference for exploring the beautiful places in India before venturing to other destinations.

“Mostly, I do travel a lot but not for vacations. Frankly, if you ask me, I have not been on a lot of vacations. During my cricket playing time, mostly I would go to nations where cricket was there. I haven’t seen a lot because I was like I have come here to play cricket, I will play cricket and come back. So, not a lot of fun that way,” Dhoni said in the video.

“My wife loves to travel. So, now our plan is… we are getting some time off, we want to travel. But we want to start from India. We have so many beautiful places over here. I would like to explore them first before heading to different places,” he said.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni, renowned as “Captain Cool,” left a mark on Indian cricket with his exemplary leadership and batting prowess. As captain, Dhoni led India to unprecedented success, notably clinching the 2007 ICC World Twenty20, the 2010 and 2016 Asia Cups, and the pinnacle of achievement – the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup. His calm demeanor under pressure became a hallmark, earning him widespread admiration.

As a batter, Dhoni’s unorthodox style and finishing abilities, particularly in limited-overs cricket, made him a game-changer. His iconic helicopter shot became synonymous with his batting flair. Known for promoting a sense of self-belief and camaraderie within the team, Dhoni’s leadership extended beyond cricket strategy, shaping the Indian team’s ethos. His legacy is a blend of strategic insights, composure in crunch situations, and a transformative impact on Indian cricket, making him one of the most celebrated captains and batters in the history of the sport. He will next be seen captain CSK in IPL 2024 after leading them to their 5th IPL title in 2023.
