Mustafa Kamal Resigns As ICC President

Mustafa Kamal resigned as the ICC President after launching a scathing attack on the ICC and particularly on it’s Chairman N. Srinivasan .“I was supposed to present the trophy to the winners after the Melbourne final. But I couldn’t do that. People with ugly mindset had no business running the ICC. I’m just sending my resignation to the ICC, for I was not allowed to work in line with the ICC constitution” Kamal told reporters at the Dhaka airport. Srinivasan unceremoniously presented the World Cup trophy to the winners which is a right guranteed to the President in the ICC’s constitution.

Kamal had previously publicly lashed out at the BCCI and the ICC after a few umpiring decisions had gone against Bangladesh in the quarterfinal between the neighbours in the recently concluded World Cup.He was unapologetic when he said, “There was no quality in the umpiring. It seemed as if they had gone into the match with something in mind. ICC has become Indian Cricket Council.”
