Legendary Sri Lankan spinner Muttiah Muralitharan has praised India’s spin bowlers Axar Patel and Ravi Bishnoi. India’s spinners, Ravi Bishnoi and Axar Patel, had an impressive performance against Australia in the T20I series. Particularly in the 4th T20I in Raipur, they teamed up effectively to shift the momentum of the match. Despite Australia’s openers starting aggressively in the chase, both Bishnoi and Axar took wickets in their initial overs, playing a key role in India’s series victory.
Throughout the five-match T20I series against Australia, Bishnoi secured 9 wickets with an average of 18.22 and an economy rate of 8.20. Axar Patel, on the other hand, claimed 6 wickets with an average of 20.66 and an economy rate of 6.20.
Muttiah Muralitharan Hailed Ravi Bishnoi And Axar Patel
In an interview on Jio Cinema, Muttiah Muralitharan mentioned that India has consistently possessed an excellent spin bowling attack, and this trend continues with the new generation of spinners.
“India have always had a good, uh, set of spin in every generation. You see from Anil (Kumble) to (Ravi) Ashwin to now the young guys who have come. Bishnoi is different from any other leg spinner than any other ones. He bowls quicker and he makes slides the ball a lot and Axar also is very accurate, not a big spinner of the ball and Washi also is similar because he doesn’t turn much and is very accurate and quite quicker,” Muralitharan said.
Muralitharan further passed on a piece of advice to the young spinners. He stated:
“I think the most important thing is for the bowler to bowl to one’s field. Set up a field and bowl to that field. It is important to see the batsman’s stronger point as well.”
