My Heart Is Still With Delhi: Gautam Gambhir

IPL 2017: Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) captain Gautam Gambhir is one of the most successful skippers in IPL history. Gambhir started his IPL career with his home side Delhi Daredevils but later moved to KKR after first three years. As KKR’s captain, Gambhir has won IPL twice and it only after his arrival that KKR’s fortune changed and they became one of the strongest sides in the tournament.

In his recent column for Hindustan Times, Gautam Gambhir wrote that although he is the captain of KKR and they want them to win the title for the third time, his heart still lies with Delhi and he wants them to do well as well.

“I think my heart is still with Delhi. I played for three years for Delhi (Daredevils). Somewhere, deep within my heart, I’d love to finish with Delhi. Though I am the captain of Kolkata Knight Riders, and would want them to win it for the third time, but since I’m a Delhi boy too, I obviously want Delhi Daredevils to do well as well.”

Gambhir leads Delhi at the domestic level and in the last 3 years or so, he has done a lot of hard work to improve the level of cricket by giving confidence and his valuable advice to young cricketers in Delhi. It is interesting that Gambhir wants to return to Delhi Daredevils in IPL and finish with them. Majority of cricket fans in Delhi are big admirers of Gautam Gambhir and they would love to see Gauti coming back home.

In the same column, Gambhir also answered the questions are fans want to ask.

Hindustan Times: If we ask you ‘Gauti ko field pe gussa kyu aata hai’, what would you say?

Gautam Gambhir: Mere ko field pe gussa haarne se aata hai. I know how depressing it is to walk into a dressing room. I want to return to a happier dressing room where people are cracking jokes and just enjoying among themselves.
