In the final of the ICC U19 World Cup 2024, India’s U19 players Naman Tiwari and Murugan Abhishek showcased resilience against Australia’s U19 team, keeping the hopes of Indian fans alive. The match unfolded at Willowmoore Park in Benoni.

India suffered a big 79-run loss against Australia in the final of the ICC U19 World Cup 2024. Despite a strong performance throughout the tournament, winning all their matches without any losses, it wasn’t the happy ending Uday Saharan’s team hoped for. This defeat was their first in the entire tournament.

India’s bowlers, led by Raj Limbani who took three wickets, did well to limit Australia to a total of 253 runs. Initially, it seemed like India would have a comfortable victory with the bat. However, things didn’t go as planned.

In the final match, India’s batsmen struggled to perform well. Adarsh Singh scored the highest with 47 runs, but overall, the team couldn’t get a good momentum going with the bat. The Australian bowlers kept taking wickets regularly, putting pressure on India. Despite efforts from Murugan Abhishek and Naman Tiwari, who added 46 runs together, India couldn’t chase down the target. They were eventually all out for 174 runs, losing the game by 79 runs.

Naman Tiwari’s inspiring message for Murugan Abhishek has gone viral

During Murugan Abhishek and Naman Tiwari’s partnership, fans noticed Naman saying something to Murugan. Even though they realized they were unlikely to win the match, they made sure to use the opportunity to learn from the game.

Naman Tiwari was heard saying to Murugan Abhishek: “Guru, yaad rakha, haarenge par seekh ke jayenge” (which roughly translates to: ‘Remember, we may lose but we will learn and go from here’).
