Naseer Hussain Pointed Out The Biggest Flaw In Babar Azam’s Batting

Babar Azam is one of the most prolific cricketers in Pakistani cricket and his batting has left an impressive mark in the international cricket canon. He has shown no signs of rust as the runs have kept on flowing for him.

However, in his so-far perfect paradise, former English captain, Naseer Hussain has stated that he has a slight technical glitch in his batting. The English skipper turned commentator has claimed that Babar is weak in any ball that flies outside the off stump.

Babar Azam has been an active scorer so far in all formats of the game and his ICC rankings are burning proof of his excellence with the bat. He is ranked second in T20I’s, third in ODI’s, and fifth in Tests.

Babar is now being spoken in the same league that includes the likes of Kohli, Williamson, and Smith. Heaping praises on Babar, Naseer stated that Babar needs to keep on performing consistently to become one of the best batsmen in the world.

In an interview with PakPassion.net, Hussain said, “He [Babar Azam] does have a slight technical problem in the area just outside off stump, a little bit like Kohli had when he first came to England and he was found out.”

He continued, “Babar’s a wonderful player and batting isn’t just about the number of runs you get, it’s about the way you get them, and when Babar’s batting well he’s so pleasing on the eye. He’s an aesthetically pleasing player. He’s an outstanding player, make no mistake and he’s just got to make sure that if he wants to be a great of the game and he’s pushing that, and for that, you have to be consistent all over the world and get runs in all conditions.”

Babar Azam has what it takes to be a cricketing great: Hussain

Naseer Hussain said that Babar has what it takes to be the best in the batting in every format, however, to achieve that status, he will have to be a lot more consistent in Test cricket.

He said, “Babar has what it takes to become one of the greats. In white-ball cricket, he’s up there with the best of them. He’s up near the top of the rankings in T20Is, and in fifty over cricket, he is exceptional too. He did OK in the Test series against England bearing in mind England is not an easy place to come and play Test cricket.”

He concluded, “He just needs that consistency in Test cricket to be up there with the likes of Virat Kohli. Babar’s done that for 6 to 9 months so far, he just needs to be consistent for a longer period of time.”
