Hardik Pandya has been a sensational player for India in international cricket. He is a rare commodity in Indian cricket as he is a fast bowling all rounder and also a leadership material. Pandya stands up tall with the bat and also the ball on big stages for the Indian cricket team. However, he did not have the best of two months before the T20 World Cup in 2024.
Pandya made his move from Gujarat Titans to Mumbai Indians ahead of IPL 2024. He was also appointed as the captain of the Mumbai Indians. That did not sit well with the Indian fans and Rohit Sharma loyalists. Everyone felt that Pandya had been selfish and the legendary captain who will also be the captain of India in the T20 World Cup 2024, was disrespected.
Pandya was booed, jeered and abused all throughout the IPL. It took a huge toll on his psyche, but he never reacted violently. After the end of IPL 2024, there were reports of possible divorce between Hardik and his wife Natasa Stankovic. Reports also claimed that Pandya would have to pay an alimony to his wife. So, he was not at the best state coming into the T20 World Cup 2024.
However, as soon as he arrived for the World Cup, he turned to a different beast. He scored runs for India in crucial moments and also picked up wickets. He was one of the main reason, why India managed to win the World Cup undefeated.

In the final, he picked up the wicket of firing Heinrich Klaasen and triggered South Africa’s demise. He also bowled the all important final over and managed to defend the total. Pandya scored 144 runs at a batting strike rate of 151.58 and picked up 11 wickets.
After the end of the T20 World Cup 2024, there was no post from Natasa Stankovic regarding Pandya’s performance or India’s World Cup win. Instead, she posted a photo of herself and the Indian fans could not keep themselves cool.
