Australian spinner Nathan Lyon shared a video message congratulating Indian counterpart Ravichandran Ashwin on reaching 500 Test wickets. Lyon extended his congratulations and shared some heartfelt words to celebrate Ashwin’s achievement.
Before the third Test began, Ashwin was one wicket away from reaching 500 Test wickets. He achieved this milestone during England’s first innings by dismissing Zak Crawley for 15 runs. Crawley got out while attempting a sweep shot from outside the leg stump. Ashwin’s teammates congratulated him, making him the second Indian to achieve this milestone. While it’s a cause for celebration, they also recognize there’s more work ahead in the game.
Nathan Lyon Hailed R Ashwin After He Entered The 500 Test Wicket
Ashwin has become the 9th player in cricket history to reach 500 Test wickets, making him the second Indian after Anil Kumble to achieve this milestone. Remarkably, he’s also the quickest to accomplish this feat in Test cricket, achieving it in just 98 matches. Additionally, Ashwin holds records for being the fastest to 50, 100, 150, 200, 250, 300, 350, 400, and 450 Test wickets, showcasing his exceptional skill as a bowler.
After Ravichandran Ashwin reached 500 Test wickets, Nathan Lyon, who achieved the same milestone recently, congratulated the Indian spinner. He praised Ashwin for his remarkable journey, describing it as amazing. Lyon said:
“Hi Ash, just to say massive congratulations on taking 500 wickets. It has been an incredible journey watching you. I have got nothing but respect for the way you have gone about it and your skill level. It has been amazing to compete against you but also learn a few things.
