The upcoming season of the Indian Premier League that was slated to start from 29th March has now been suspended till April 15 because of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has caused widespread fear across the globe. Announcing about the postponement, BCCI’s President Sourav Ganguly opened up about the suspension and said that safety is the ‘first priority’. He said:
Let’s stick to the postponement (at the moment). First priority is safety, so we postponed the games,”
However, ahead of the announcement, there were a lot of speculations going around on social media. From fans, experts to cricketers around the world, everyone is curious to know about the fate of the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League.
Meanwhile, former Australian skipper, Shane Warne also took to his Twitter to inquire about the upcoming season of IPL. In his Tweet, Shan Warne asked his followers whether BCCI has postponed the IPL. However, in his Tweet, Shane Warne tagged many people right from the official Twitter account of BCCI, to many cricketers including Michael Vaughan, Kevin Pietersen, Virender Sehwag, Virat Kohli to even Kuldeep Yadav.
