The Indian cricket team suffered an embarrassing defeat in the 5-match T20I series against West Indies by 2-3. West Indies cricket team, who were at the receiving end of criticism for their below-par performances in the recent time, staged a stellar comeback and won the series.
There were many star performers for the West Indies during the series with the likes of Romario Shepherd and Jason Holder giving a stand-out performances at various stages in the series, however, Nicholas Pooran turned out to be a decisive factor as he played a sensational knock of 176 runs at an average of 35.20 and a strike rate of 141.94. In fact, no other batter from either of the teams could score more than Pooran.
Nicholas Pooran Suffered Severe Blows Received By Arshdeep Singh’s Delivery

In the final T20I match, chasing 166 for a series win in Lauderhill, Pooran played an impactful knock of 47 runs off 35 balls to help his team defeat the Indian cricket team. However, during his stellar knock, Pooran was hit on the abdomen by a delivery from Arshdeep Singh. Not just this, Brandon King’s bludgeoning stroke off Kuldeep Yadav in the fifth over also went on to hit Pooran on his forearm. All thanks to his stunning performance, Nicholas Pooran was deservingly handed the Player of the Series award.
Later, after the game, the West Indies captain took to his social media and shared a picture of his wounds on social media. Sharing the picture, Pooran wrote:

During the post-match presentations, West Indies captain Rovman Powell also showered praise on Pooran. Powell hailed Pooran as a big match player and also revealed that the team management had asked him to come good in three out of the five games and the stylish batter lived up to the expectations. Powell said:
“Nicholas Pooran is a big player for us, we asked him to come through for us in at least three of the five games and he did. Nobody can come good in every game so we asked him to try and stand up in three games,”
