Nick Compton Slammed Virat Kohli: India’s experienced spinner Ravi Ashwin’s exclusion from the playing XI of the ongoing India vs England 5-match Test series has become one of the most talked-about topics. R Ashwin, who is the world’s number 2 bowler and one of the highest wicket-takers in the world, hasn’t made a single appearance in the ongoing 5-match Test series against England.

Everyone was expecting the inclusion of Ravi Ashwin in the playing XI, especially after the poor batting show in Leeds. However, much to everyone’s surprise, Kohli’s India playing XI didn’t include Ravi Ashwin, Instead of him, Shardul Thakur and Umesh Yadav made it to the playing XI replacing Ishant Sharma and Mohammad Shami.

While explaining his reason for not picking Ravi Ashwin in his playing XI, Kohli explained that since England has some left-handed players and Jadeja would be a better pick for them. However, the explanation didn’t go down well with many.

Among many, former England opener Nick Compton took to Twitter and attacked Virat Kohli for not picking Ashwin. In his Tweet, Nick predicted that the 4th Test match will end up in a draw and stated Ashwin could have been the difference. He slammed Kohli by writing that he doesn’t have ‘independent thinkers’ in his team. He wrote:

“Can’t see this being anything other than a draw! India’s bowling apart from Bumrah will struggle. If only Ashwin was playing… oh Kohli it’s good to have independent thinkers in your team”

This wasn’t the first time that Nick Compton attacked Virat Kohli. Earlier, he took to Twitter to slam Virat for keeping R Ashwin out of the playing XI. He opined that Virat has personal issues with Ravi Ashwin. He wrote:

“Please can someone explain how Kohli obvious personal issues with Ashwin are allowed to cloud an obvious selection issue? #india,”
