Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni will go down as two of the best Indian batsmen in cricket history. The Mumbai-based Tendulkar holds the record for the most runs in international cricket, most runs in World Cup history, and the first-ever ODI double centurion. Although he achieved little success as a captain, Tendulkar can be hailed as the greatest batsman in all of cricket.

On the other side, MS Dhoni has a different playing style. The right-handed batsman from Ranchi can be hailed as one of the most excellent captains in cricket history. The Chennai Super Kings captain led India to the ICC World Cup in 2011, the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013, and to kick off his captaincy reign; he had guided the Indian team to the 2007 T20 World Cup in South Africa. Dhoni is on the verge of retirement, and the fans expect him to hang up his boots in the next few years.

The lesser-known coincidence between Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni’s ODI career

Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni achieved success in different ways, but there is one huge coincidence in their ODI careers. Both batsmen managed to touch the 7,000 ODI runs milestone in their 189th ODI innings. Yes, Dhoni achieved this mega achievement against Pakistan in Chennai during a bilateral series of 2012. Many fans would remember that epic knock because Dhoni had single-handedly saved the Indian team from an embarrassing collapse. The right-handed batsman scored 113 runs.

Sachin Tendulkar reached this milestone in the Nidahas Trophy match against Sri Lanka. Even Sachin scored a hundred in that inning, where his 252-runs opening partnership with Sourav Ganguly helped India win the game. Virat Kohli holds the national record for the fastest to 7,000 ODI runs. At the international level, this record is in the name of Hashim Amla from South Africa, who accomplished this record during his 150th ODI innings.
