The Indian cricket team is sweating it hard in Australia ahead of much-awaited India vs Pakistan clash of the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022. Going into the marquee event, former captain and batting maestro Virat Kohli will be one of the key members of the Indian squad as he has just returned to his sensational form. Legendary captain and former cricketer turned commentator Ricky Ponting hailed Virat Kohli for his contribution to the game of cricket, especially in the Test and ODI formats of the game.

Well, during India’s latest practice game for the T20 World Cup against Australia, former Aussie captain and legend Ricky Ponting, who was on his commentating duties heaped praises on Virat saying that he is the greatest white-ball cricketer that he has ever witnessed. He said:

“He has led his team really well. The win in Australia in the Test series in Australia is amazing. Not sure I’ve seen a better white-ball cricketer ever. What he does in One-Day International cricket is unbelievable. His records are amazing,”

Good luck charm for Virat Kohli

Notably, Virat Kohli was going through a lean patch and was struggling to score runs for close to three years where he didn’t score a century in international cricket for more than 1,000 days. He even took a break from the Indian side missing the series against West Indies and Zimbabwe, after enduring a bad tour to England.

However, Virat Kohli made a sensational return in to the Asia Cup 2022 and the tournament saw the return of the Virat Kohli that the world love. He even emerged as the highest run-scorer of the Indian side at the tournament, having amassed 276 runs at a stunning average of 92. He even ended his century drought in international cricket as he registered his 1st T20I century by smashing 122* runs against Afghanistan. Virat Kohli is expected to play a big role for the Indian side in the ongoing tournament.
