Now The Captain For The ODI Series Has Changed Again

Sri Lankan cricket has been in a crisis literally after the veterans like Kumara Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene have retired. Sri Lanka since then has been trying different things to get back on track but all those efforts have rather gone in vain.

They have time and again experimented with the bridle of captaincy and they still continue to do so as Sri Lanka has announced a new captain to lead the sinking ship of Sri Lanka’s limited overs cricket.

The Sri Lankan all rounder Thisara Perera is all set to replace Upul Tharanga as the captain of the side in the limited overs fixtures. Once again Sri Lanka has tried to experiment the swapping of captains in hope of some good fortunes coming to the team. So, in the upcoming ODI series between Sri Lanka and India, both the captains would be new.

Rohit Sharma was announced the captain of the Indian side as Virat Kohli has been rested and now even Sri Lanka would play under a new captain. Dinesh Chandimal, however, would continue to be at the helm of the side in the longest versions of the game.

Upul Tharanga has been banned twice for slow overrate and his captaincy had not delivered as per the expectations sought. Before this Angelo Mathews had to step down from the position after Sri Lanka lost a series to Zimbabwe at home. So, Sri Lankan cricket is all surrounded by a clustered crisis at this moment and the largest of all remains the leadership crisis.

Let us see if this new gamble from Sri Lanka helps the team to revive or this too goes in vain like any other attempt to invest some hope in Sri Lankan cricket.
