Much-anticipated India vs Pakistan match in ICC World Cup 2023 is likely to be rescheduled to October 14 instead of the original date of October 15. There will be no change in the venue – Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad – of the high-voltage clash.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has given its nod to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for the schedule alteration of ODI World Cup 2023.

However, this re-schedule of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 games has just got messier. Besides the thrilling clash between India and Pakistan, two more games are scheduled to be played on this day. The day game between Bangladesh and New Zealand is in Chennai, and the afternoon match between the defending champions, England, and Afghanistan is in Delhi.

October 14th is the only day in the ODI World Cup 2023 schedule where 3 games are set to be played. On most days, a single game is scheduled while on rare days, two matches are scheduled.

ODI World Cup 2023 re-scheduled:

Apart from India vs Pakistan clash, it has also been learned that Pakistan’s match against Sri Lanka in Hyderabad has been moved. The game has been moved up a few days to October 10 from October 12, which was originally on the schedule.

The primary reason for the change of dates of the Indian vs Pakistan match is the start of the Navratri festival. As the first day of Navratri was falling on October 15th, the security arrangements would have been difficult.

The ICC and BCCI had approached the PCB for the rescheduling of two of its group matches including the high-voltage against India in Ahmedabad. After the match against India, Pakistan’s next match will be on October 20 in Bengaluru against Australia.

Besides India and Pakistan, Sri Lanka will also have a short turnaround in the tournament. After their initial World Cup match against South Africa on October 7 in Delhi, Sri Lanka will play Australia on October 16th following their game against Pakistan.
