Ollie Robinson Mocked The Australian Cricket Team: England’s fast bowler Ollie Robinson recently gave an account of an exceptional bowling performance that left him and his teammates in awe. Amidst all, Robinson didn’t miss the chance to tease the Australian cricket team.

“I’ve never seen a spell like Woody’s on that first morning,” Robinson began, recollecting his initial position at mid-off. The first few balls bowled by his teammate Mark Wood made him exclaim, “Jeez, that looks pretty quick…” As the over progressed, Wood’s intensity didn’t waver, leaving Robinson and others impressed.

Robinson shared how one of his teammates ran past him from the slip, telling him they were standing beyond his bowling mark. This observation reaffirmed the tremendous pace Wood was bowling at. Consequently, Robinson shifted to the fine leg, standing only 15 yards behind Johnny. From there, he witnessed the fastest bowling he had ever seen.

Robinson admired Wood’s ability to consistently generate shape and movement at such high speed. He confessed, “I felt like if they hit it more than a metre either side of me, it was a certain boundary.” This reflection highlighted the potency of Wood’s spell, which was thrilling for Robinson and his team, albeit not so much for the batters.

The extreme pace brought forth some unexpected responses from the Australian batters. Robinson noted how the bowlers started to pick up on these subtle reactions. One such instance involved Marnus Labuschagne. After one of Wood’s deliveries, Labuschagne’s wry, awkward smile did not escape Robinson’s notice. He interpreted it as Labuschagne’s attempt to hide his discomfort, for the ball was too fast for him.

Even Usman Khawaja, known for his prowess against pace, seemed to falter against Wood’s bowling. His composed persona at the crease gave way to a facade of smiles and jokes. Robinson observed that every batter during that spell had a similar reaction. The speed was not just fast, it was “awkwardly fast and awkwardly uncomfortable,” as he put it.

The bowlers had a unanimous sentiment about the spell. They agreed that if they were at the receiving end, they might have just knocked over their stumps voluntarily. This light-hearted comment by Robinson underscored the awe and respect they held for Wood’s extraordinary spell. Their banter and observations reflected the camaraderie within the team and the shared exhilaration of witnessing something remarkable on the cricket field.
